I do agree. A periodic monitoring of the controller performace is needed for PID schemes, if they have to be tight. And the exercise that goes with it is some times tedious.

Control experts, Shinskey and Luyben have categorically spelt out that controls should be simple. Then where do we practitioners of advanced controls stand.

Can smeone provide litereature survey about cost benefical aspect of MPCs
